Arthur Holm’s Dynamic2 presides over Chartres city council’s new hemicycle

When the city of Chartres wanted to replace its old town hall with a more modern and functional space, they awarded the project to Wilmotte and Associés Architectes.

France, 2022

The architectural firm came up with a project proposal that embodied a dialogue between old and new, between ancient and modern. This large project included the restoration of the historic Hotel Montescot (a UNESCO world heritage site), as well as using the perimeter’s surrounding areas.

The project also included a new council room which would be equipped with the latest conference technology. Our partner Auvisys was responsible for the AV, conference, and digital signage solutions. And Arthur Holm monitors were chosen to preside over this amazing hemicycle.

The town council room accommodates approximately 200 people, including elected officials, the public, the press, and people with reduced mobility.

“The elected officials will have a screen to vote and watch what is projected on the main screen, on the platform,” explains Franck Masselus. The members of the municipal council will be provided with a card, that they can insert to identify themselves in order to vote. And the high-tech side of this new room does not stop there: automated cameras, for the live broadcast and video recording of the councils that will automatically capture the image of the elected official whose microphone is open.

In addition, the president’s pulpit of the hemicycle will have reinforced video thanks to the retractable individual monitors.

These monitors have been anodized in black (both the monitor housings and the table-top cover plates) to perfectly match the modern but sober design of the room’s furniture. The monitors will only appear when needed and will smoothly retract inside the desk when not in use.

This Arthur Holm motorized vertically retractable product range provides the quietest, reliable, and harmonic movement using a unique patented system with only a single engine. It is equipped with a variable speed system to raise, lower and tilt 20° to guarantee the best ergonomics, viewing angle and visibility to the rest of the room, and it can be controlled by both RS-422, IP and the wireless app AHlink that provides unique set up and diagnostic capabilities.
