At the core of the new MOL Campus in southern Budapest — designed by Foster + Partners as a sustainable and interconnected workplace of the future — lies a boardroom that demonstrates how architecture and technology can be seamlessly integrated. Central to this space is the installation of Arthur Holm’s DB2 retractable monitors, a solution chosen not only for its technical performance but also for its ability to preserve the architectural purity of the environment.
The DB2 series is distinguished by its minimalist design and patented mechanism, allowing the monitors to disappear completely within the boardroom table when not in use. This capability was particularly important for MOL’s headquarters, where the emphasis on clean lines, natural materials, and timeless aesthetics extends to every detail. By integrating the monitors invisibly into the table, the technology supports the space without visually dominating it — ensuring that the boardroom retains its sense of openness and elegance while offering the latest collaborative tools.
A total of 26 customized 17-inch retractable monitors were engineered specifically by Arthur Holm’s hungarian partner Streamnet in a consortium with Visual Europe Group for this project. Each monitor was enhanced with touchscreen functionality, enabling intuitive interaction and real-time collaboration. To further increase usability, Arthur Holm integrated a motorized retractable USB cable system directly into the monitors, ensuring seamless connectivity while avoiding clutter. The units also feature three programmable capacitive buttons on the front glass, each accompanied by dual-color LED indicators controlled via GPI, providing clear and flexible user feedback.
The integration required close coordination between Arthur Holm’s and Streamnet’s engineering team, the furniture designers, and the project architects. Special attention was given to the synchronization of the wooden boardroom table’s craftsmanship with the precision mechanics of the monitors. The result is a highly functional meeting environment where advanced technology remains hidden until required, preserving the architectural vision while delivering robust performance.
This installation illustrates Arthur Holm’s expertise in creating customized, discreet, and architecturally aligned AV solutions. The DB2 monitors not only meet MOL’s functional needs but also embody the same design principles driving the entire campus project: sustainability, innovation, and harmony between people, technology, and the built environment.
