A custom UnderCover solution for the Sparkasse in Altenkirchen, Germany

The story started when Comm-Tec, our partner in Germany, visited the Sparkasse with the Arthur Holm Van. The Sparkasse was looking for a solution to be integrated as discreetly as possible in a sober, oval shaped, wooden table for 13 attendees. The challenge was to provide a full solution including monitor, microphone and connectors that could seamlessly retract into a high-end wooden surface, leaving the smallest footprint on the furniture design. Nothing should be visible when not in use, thus optimising the flexibility of the use of the space while respecting the table’s design.

After listening to the user’s needs, in a perfect exercise of coordination between manufacturer, system integrator and end user, we customized a tailor-made DynamicX2 UnderCover solution, integrating all the required features: 17” DynamicX2 retractable monitor, DynamicTalk, 2 European power outlets, 1 audio Jack, 1 Display Port, 2 RJ45, 3 free buttons, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI and 2 USB connectors.

Flexible spaces, automated technology, invisible and discreet integration in boardroom furniture, synchronisation of movements… All these aspects were taken into consideration when Arthur Holm created the patented UnderCover technology. UnderCover is an ingenious, yet simple solution made up of an automated cover plate synchronised with the monitor. This patented mechanism of an automated flap enables the monitor (plus audio conference “gooseneck” microphones and flexible connectivity options) to disappear neatly beneath the furniture with the simple touch of a button or through a remote-control system.

The UnderCover flap slides down elegantly inside the table, allowing the monitor to rise out of the desk. This motorized system can also be applied to our main connections and customisation options such as microphones, voting systems, channel selectors, speakers, power sockets and connectors like RJ-45, HDMI and USB. It has been specially designed so that the furniture maker can create an easy veneer. The result is a clever, elegant and convenient integration in meeting and conference rooms ensuring a uniform and streamlined look: nothing is visible when not needed and the table design remains unpolluted.
